Rodney spent 3 years living in the tropical rainforest in this camp set up writing his book Cape York - The Savage Frontier.  While there, he endured cyclones, snakes, rats, 5 foot (1.5metres) goannas and other natural elements.  One time during a cyclone, there was so much rain that the tent awning collapsed and another time, a tree fell through his camp site.

He enjoyed his time there and was disappointed when his time came to an end and had to move on. 

The tall thin palm trees in the back ground are rare Black Palms.  The others are Fan Palms.
