SOMERSET - Known as the "Harbour of Refuge" (1870) where castaways found sanctuary from aboriginal attacks.

A. Where the Police Magistrate's residence once stood.

B. The main burial grounds, but mostly destroyed now.

C. Main Jardine cemetery - pictured below.

D. Somerset Hill where the British marines once guarded this "Harbour of Refuge"

Somerset is a sacred European site where over 40 Europeans lay buried.

The only a few graves that are still intact.
